Recruiting Overview and College Athletics 

The Anoka-Hennepin College and Career Specialists are excited to host Coach Rob Fornasiere, retired Assistant Head Baseball Coach at the University of Minnesota, for a presentation and question and answer session designed to help athletes and their families better understand the recruiting process and all aspects of playing athletics in college. 

This free presentation will include:

  • Basic NCAA academic and recruiting rules

  • Timing and criteria for making a decision

  • Academic and financial implications

  • Description of the differences in a Division 1,2,3 athlete or Junior College options

  • Question and answer time

Coach Fornasiere’s resume highlights include


  • Coached in 2,134 games in 39 years as a college coach

  • U of M record in 33 seasons(1986-2018): 1,164 wins and 780 losses (.599)

  • Recruited over 350 student athletes to the U of M

  • 9 Big Ten Championships; 8 Big Ten Tournament Championships

  • Finished 1st or 2nd 20 times in 33 seasons in the Big 10

  • 17 NCAA Tournament appearances

  • 2008 ABCA National Assistant Coach of the Year

  • 2018 MHSBCA Hall of Fame inductee

  • All but 3 baseball student/athletes that finished their eligibility have graduated during tenure at the "U".

  • Head Baseball Coach at Normandale CC 1980-85 (W105 - L 29)
